We had so much fun!
On July 12th, we held our first series of outdoor mini sessions, and worked with 9 talented dancers over the course of 6 hours. Because of Covid-19, our previously selected date of June 7th had to be postponed, and we weren’t able to have a make-up artist pamper the kids like at our last studio mini sessions. We did our best, though, to make up for that and had a super fun time!
Along with other options and add-ons, the dancers were given the choice of doing their photos downtown and/or in a forest, as well as having the option to add another location of their choice. Our day was pretty evenly split between doing photos with a pretty nature feel and an urban street style. Even though we worked in one general area at a forest, and another general area downtown, we did our best to give each dancer slightly different backgrounds to keep it as personalized and individualized to them as possible. We always try to make sure each dancers’ photos are different, so they stand out in their own way.
At our forest location, we were able to use a boardwalk across the water, a couple different pretty forest spots, as well as a large field. At the downtown location, we were able to use different alleyways, doors, and textured walls. We also had one dancer choose their own location of choice, where we went to a beach to do some water photos. That was a nice way to end the day with a little swim… Well, she swam, not us haha! We probably should have though… Pretty sure the water was much warmer than the air at that time.
Each dancer was also given a big lollipop to pose with for fun for our #dancersanddesserts photos. That surprise was almost busted, though, when Mike bought the lollipops from The Candy Store and one of the dancers and her mom saw him there. What are the chances?! Blessing in disguise = MASKS, so they weren’t 100% sure it was him lol! Even so, we were doing it no matter what, because the look in the dancers’ eyes when we gave them the lollipop was priceless, and the look on their face taking a photo like they were about to devour the entire thing in one bite was even more priceless!
Plan = success!!
1) Give dancer sugar…
2) Send home hyper…
...Haha! Okay maybe that wasn’t actually our plan, but it sure was fun to joke around about, and it totally made for some pretty fun photos!
Can’t wait to do this all again! Check out the highlights of our day below :)
