Introducing ambassador

GRACE

2023-2024

My name is Grace Dickson; I’m 13 years old and I’m from Sudbury, Ontario. I started dancing recreationally, with Project Dance, at the age of 5. In 2019, I joined the full-time junior competitive team and, from then on, my love for dance has continued to grow exponentially. Currently, I am a full-time competitive dancer with Happiness Is Dancing.

Simply put, I love dance. It’s been woven into the fabric of who I am. It gives me a sense of self and allows me freedom of movement and expression like nothing else. Through dance, I have learned that discipline and hard work are essential for growth and that this applies to everything in life. I’ve also created beautiful friendships through dance, many of which, I believe will last a lifetime.

Preparing for competitions and attending conventions have provided me with opportunities to develop my skills as a dancer and motivate me to achieve my goals all while continuing to set new ones. Over the last few years, I’ve been recognized with top placements, special awards and scholarships. This year, I was awarded regional Junior Miss Candance 2023. This summer, I was chosen to receive the Artistic Director’s Award and a scholarship to the Quinte Ballet School of Canada with an offer to train in their Professional Training Program. Hard work and dedication matter!

I applied to be a DAKP Ambassador because of the appreciation I have for the details and the beauty in dance photography. Seeing how Mike and Brittany so skillfully and creatively showcase many aspects of the dancer they are photographing, I knew I wanted to be a part of that. It was the perfect outlet through which my passion for dance could be captured and shared with others. Thank you for this amazing opportunity!
