Hello! My name is Christina Thorpe-Hung and I’m 18 years old. I’m originally from Montreal, Québec, but currently live in Mississauga, Ontario. I am a competitive senior dancer at Cutting Edge Dance Academy in Mississauga and train in jazz, ballet, lyrical, and acro. An interesting fact about me is that I only have 1 year of dance experience and have already accomplished a lot! Before becoming a dancer, I was a rhythmic gymnast for 15 years and had been competing as a Senior National level gymnast. After my retirement from the sport, I quickly found my passion for dance and I am so grateful for the opportunities it has given me.
I have recently finished my first season as a competitive dancer and I’m very grateful for all the awards I have received. At my very first dance competition, I received first place in my category for my solo as well as being the highest scoring senior soloist in competitive level 1. I also won my category at the Canadian Dance Finals Nationals in Niagara Falls. I have also received multiple dance intensive scholarships that I’m excited to attend this season.
As of right now I have guest taught dancers in strengthening and flexibility classes and plan to teach many more classes. Although I did have a late start in the dance world, I plan on dancing and teaching for as long as I can. I have just recently been given the opportunity of traveling to the Czech Republic representing Canada at the Dance World Cup in the summer of 2024! This is a huge opportunity as I have worked so hard to get to the dancer I am now. Representing my country on the world stage is something I have dreamed about forever and couldn’t be more grateful to finally do so.
I am super excited to be one of this year's DAKP ambassadors! Getting to meet and shoot with new dancers is an amazing way to form new friendships. Mike and Brittany are an amazing photography duo! They always make sure that every dancer has an amazing time at every shoot and the pictures always turn out amazing!
