Christmas Mini Session

WE'RE SO EXCITED TO DO SOME CHRISTMAS DANCE PHOTOS WITH YOU!

Our original vision for these minis was inspired by those classic, slightly awkward ugly Christmas sweater family photos you see every year, but with a dance twist! We loved the idea of bringing that fun Christmas tradition into our dance photography. But after doing these minis for a few years now, we figured it was time to switch things up a little! So this year, we're opening things up to other Christmas-inspired outfits too. Ugly sweaters are still welcome, of course...

but don't be afraid to get a little creative!

To keep everyone on track with outfits and make sure we don't get too wacky with ideas, here are some tips and examples of different things you can bring.

OUTFITS

  • Christmas Plaid & Flannel - Plaid PJ pants, flannel shirts, tartan skirts, or matching holiday sets. Great for that classic Christmas morning feel.
  • Cozy Christmas - Chunky knit sweaters, oversized cardigans, leggings, fuzzy socks, and leg warmers. Simple, comfortable, and great for dance poses.
  • Retro Christmas Vintage - sweaters, high-waisted jeans, striped socks, and bold holiday colours. A little awkward in the best possible way.
  • Dressy Christmas - Velvet skirts, festive dresses, simple tops, or dress pants. Rich reds, emerald greens, and cream tones work beautifully.
  • Candy Cane Inspired - Red and white stripes, red leggings, white tops, or striped socks. Festive without needing a candy cane costume.
  • Simple Holiday Colours - Solid red, forest green, burgundy, white, cream, or black outfits with a small Christmas detail. Perfect for dancers who prefer something less themed.
  • Ugly or not-so-ugly sweaters are of course still ok too!

Please come with your outfit de-linted and de-wrinkled.

POSING

When it comes to posing, we always come prepared with ideas, which is why it's so important that you specified the style of dance and posing you want at the session.

However, we don't know your specific strengths and flexibility capabilities, so we recommend dancers come with at least a couple of prepared poses.

This helps build confidence right from the start and helps us see where to go from there.

*Feel free to come with various options or even screenshots of examples for inspiration to work with!

STRETCHING

Get all stretched up before the session. We don't want any injuries!

PARENT / GUARDIAN POLICY

Due to limited space, we only allow one parent or guardian into the lounge area of the studio. We wish you could experience the full photoshoot but to keep distractions minimal, and for better results, parents/guardians will be asked to wait in the lounge area until the session is complete.

SCHEDULING

When we offer studio mini sessions, we're taking back-to-back bookings. Because of this, it's important that you arrive on time for your session. We'll be following a strict schedule for the day. Unfortunately, if you're late, we won't be able to lengthen your session as another booking is very likely scheduled immediately after yours.

LOCATION

Our studio is located at 168 Elgin Street. Just a few doors down from the Laughing Buddha and Townhouse. Parking is free on weekends, so don't worry about that!!!

We always suggest arriving 10 minutes early to make sure everything goes smoothly.

****Keep in mind parking will be limited. This can be due to a Christmas Market and/or any other events going on. Plan a little extra time for travel to your photoshoot. Sessions will be back to back, meaning if you're late your spot will be lost.

That is all! If you have any additional questions, feel free to reach out by email or through our Instagram page.

WE CAN'T WAIT FOR YOUR PHOTOshoot!
