My name is Jordyn Cushway. I am 11 years old from Sudbury, Ontario, and a member of the Intermediate Competitive team at Happiness is Dancing. I have been dancing at HID since I was 2 years old and competing since I was 6. I train in tap, ballet, pointe, lyrical, acro, hip-hop and my favorites, contemporary and jazz. Last year, I competed with jazz, ballet and contemporary solos and hope to have this opportunity again this season. I’m super excited to see what this year will bring as it will mark my 10th year dancing with Happiness is Dancing.
My biggest inspiration comes from my big sister Katelyn, who is a former dancer at Happiness, and from my teachers and teammates who act as my second family. I also love to assist the younger dancers at the studio. It’s so nice to see them progress during the year. My advice to these growing dancers is to never give up, believe that you can, and you will achieve anything and everything you put your hard work and mind to!
This past year, I was lucky enough to win the DAKP Christmas Contest, where I had the opportunity to take along two of my good friends for a super fun photoshoot. After this experience, I knew I wanted to apply to be a DAKP Ambassador! Mike and Brittany are so creative and fun to work with. Brittany comes up with amazing pose ideas and Mike can capture them at just the right moment! This makes for great keepsakes to have for years to come! I recently had the chance to meet the whole team of ambassadors at a group photoshoot, which was so much fun and I can’t wait to collaborate with everyone again soon!
